Call for Submissions: Sex with Gods

Sex with Gods: Sacred Marriage, Divine Passion, and Pagan Politics

The phenomenon of God-spouses and God-lovers is one that has been a part of religious experience for ages, and has spanned many traditions: from the Heathen priestess of Frey mentioned in the story of Gunnar Helming, referred to as "Frey's wife", to Catholic nuns who had romantic and erotic encounters with Jesus, to followers of Voudoun who marry their lwa.  In the 21st century the Old Gods are speaking loud and clear, waking from centuries of lying dormant.  Many deal with these Deities on an intense level.  And many are discovering these Deities in an intimate, even sexual, way.

The time has come for a book that examines the reality of those who are loved by the Divine, from a study of this experience within Christian tradition as well as within the various Pagan paths.  Laure Gunnlod-Hjarta Lynch and Sigrun Freyskona are working together on such a text, as spouses of Odin and Frey respectively.  If you consider yourself to be a God-spouse or God-lover, we are inviting you to be so kind as to share your story with us.

For contributions to this text we are looking for those who are willing to be honest with sharing the details of life as one wed to or intimate with a Deity.  We have a questionnaire that will be helpful, and if you are not comfortable with using your legal name for privacy reasons, you have the option of using a psuedonym (including one's Pagan name) or remaining anonymous: we only ask that there is honesty both about the ecstasy and agony of this Path.  We also would like to hear from partners of those who "share" their beloved with a Deity, how this affects you, especially with regards to how it influences your relationship and your own spirituality.

Deadlines for contributions fall on November 9, 2008.  If you are interested in participating, feel free to contact us:
